I can't believe I am going to actually post this. But, I am excited and I know a couple of girl friends out there will be proud and quite a few more will be amazed.
I made Ariana an outfit. Yep, to my husband's total amazement. I sewed a complete outfit. Now, I have made drapes before and other random but simple things. But this was a little more momentous as I had to do well enough for her to stand up to my "Is it cute enough?" challenge as well as the much more vital "Will it disintegrate when you wear it?" challenge. So far, so good.
Now, the dangerous part about this is other people finding out that you are capable. I am with Bill Cosby on this one. It is better to feign ignorance. Go ahead and act incompetent in the areas you can't stand, and let someone else 'show you how it is done' while you work on something a little more your style. Like, say, a nap. Oh wait, 4 kids... I was dreaming.. ok, someone else fixes the hole your son punched in the wall with the door knob because Spackle is far to confusing for me.. and I will hunt around for Corbin's missing science binder. (BTW, if you see it let me know)
So, here is the big reveal. I have moved on from my bow making hobby to dress making. Why? My husband cut me off. He is making me get control of my clothing addiction and in the time it takes to make one cute outfit, I have rescued my self from buying six or seven on the Internet. I also spent way too much money on 2 adorable Halloween outfits. They were great for October, and I know Nicole is going to love getting them in the mail for Ava next year, but I can sew Ana an outfit for every day in November and save money.. That is why there are turkeys all over this outfit. It is our first November uniform.
One sad thing. This doesn't make sense for Aidan. You can get toddler boy clothes cheap. A Lot cheaper than the fabric in fact. My big splurge on him are SPUDZ and Tumbleweed shirts, and I can't make one of those. Just like I can't make Abercrombie or Hollister clothes for Corbin and Collin..
Secretly, I am in training for the day when I have to make her a dance recital outfit. No pressure there!
Now, just remember.. don't let the cat out of the bag. This is just between us, right?!

OMG!!!!!! Girl you are so good! I too sew draperies . I have even made them for a house with 30 foot ceilings but clothes scare me! I think I have that reoccurring dream that you look down in a public place and relize you are naked! I would die if the outfit fell apart especially while being worn!!!! That is the cutest outfit! Did you have a pattern? I love it and exspect to see that turkey suit in my box of goodies! Send me the pattern # ...I have been inspired!

Hey there Michelle. We met in Moscow at dinner with Ron and Dinia. I have been reading your blog for a while now and have been meaning to say hello and comment. The outfit is adorable! Love it and can't wait to see more of your creations on Ariana. She is just adorable and it sounds like things are going great!
Are you taking orders? :))) Cute, adorable, very sweet November dress.
