A Toast to PAPs

Please lift your glass, make it strong and numbing, and salute all the PAPs past and present.
(Translation for my friends and family: a PAP is a Prospective Adoptive Parent)

To the PAPs who look at their cell phone every-other minute.
To the PAPs who look at their caller ID the minutes in between.
To the PAPs who have figured out how to wait.
To the PAPs who stalk their email while juggling both of those phones.
To the PAPs who call their Internet providers and phone operators to make sure their connections are in fact working.
To the PAPs who have figured out how to wait.
To the PAPs who talk in codes like PWP, IA, IAD, HS and DA.
To the PAPs who know what Appostille means and how to pronounce it.
To the PAPs who have figured out how to wait.
To the PAPs who seek a visit to Starbucks in a land far away.
To the PAPs who have become bloggers to track their insanity for future generations.
To the PAPs who have figured out how to wait.
To the PAPs who find comfort in the list serves, organizations and yahoo groups that bring them together.
To the PAPs who live in a virtual world of their own.
To the PAPs who have figured out how to wait.
To the PAPs who shop for a mystery.
To the PAPs who read to be a wonderful parent, but after the first 4 books, it was to pass the time.
To the PAPs who have taken up a foreign language to speak to a baby who knows no words.
To the PAPs who have figured out how to wait.
To the PAPs who had the crib assembled as soon as the dossier was done.
To the PAPs who pray morning, noon and night for their faceless child.
To the PAPs who also pray for the caregivers who nurture them.
To the PAPs who look forward to buying these wonderful women gifts.
To the PAPs who figured out how to wait.
To the PAPs who drive their agency crazy with never ending emails and phone calls.
To all the PAPs who wait with me and never figured out how to do it.
Hear! Hear! to all the PAPs who know how challenging the paper pregnancy can be.
Hear! Hear! to all he PAPs who PAP far more gracefully than I!
To you who truly deserve it: bottoms up, this rounds on ME!!

Hehehe... that is great!! I especially love the "who have learned how to wait" part. We do pretty well with that, don't we? :-)

Oh my gosh! I love this! I hope your wait is over soon. Once you get "the call" you'll forget about all your frustrations and stress. Then you get a whole new level of stress!! :-)
