January update

Time for an update, I suppose. It isn't like a ton isn't going on.

I have started back to work. It is crazy. I feel all over the place. Hopefully, as time continues to ebb forward I will find a routine and comfort in the chaos. I am so used to being in one room that belongs to my team. My new assignment as resource teacher has me in many rooms, with no home base to speak of. I constantly feel in the way when I borrow a computer to check on staff emails. Like I didn't wear enough hats already, I swear I just added 17 more. I am the designated sub, reading coach, math tutor, copy-staple-glue-and laminate assistant, team mate, planning elder, binder creator and all around "can you do this" girl. To add a little more color to that kaleidoscope, I am now an after school tutor (free). If you are going to have to go back to work it is gratifying to know that you are being a blessing to others. And, IDS is giving me an abundance of opportunity to be used. I am constantly balancing that with the feeling like I am in the way and a big pain in the rump. Like I said, hopefully a month from now I will have found a groove and this feeling of unequilibrium will be a distant memory.

We had our 6 month post placement for Ariana. She has changed so much, as everyone said she would. When I brought her home she seemed so much like a 1 year old and now I see her holding her own with the 2 year olds in the baby room. I see so much progress and still so much worries me for her. Mostly, I would love for her to gain some fat on her little body and for her hair to fill in more. I worry that with as much as she eats, she isn't absorbing enough nutrition. She doesn't have any fat to speak of on that tiny body, and goodness knows she eats and eats and eats. She is my least finicky eater of the bunch. She is even drinking white whole milk now. I am still holding out on the vaccines. My gut is telling me that she needs to gain some more weight and be strong to deal with the vaccines. I am also one of those who is opposed to giving vaccines to sick kids, so I am hoping that as soon as flu season fades, she will have gained some more weight and we can start the important task of re vaccinations (most of her titers were negative). I will feel SO much better when we get those up to date too. It will take some time as I am a big proponent of doing them one at a time.

Basketball season is over for Corbin, yet Paintball rages on. His team took second place this weekend and won $500 worth of free equipment. I am so happy all his practice and hard work paid off.

Collin has made friends with the boy across the street who just moved in. He is nationally ranked in basket ball and Collin is learning as much as he can from him. I am so happy to see him spend an entire afternoon without touching anything electronic. Historic!

Aidan is laying next to me apparently embracing the family bed concept tonight. He got a wonderful new queen size bed and had been really enjoying it up until now. No telling what prompted his return to my side. But, honestly, I know how quickly it all whirls by- and I love having the chance to savor his cute toes and nose.

Ana has shown some regression with my return to work. Fortunately, Ian has plans to be around more the next few weeks so he is going to try to keep her home as much as he can while he works from the house. Maybe by the time he is out of town again, I will have settled into a routine that I am more comfortable with. One that has more family time and more solo time for her.

And, that is the latest and not-exactly the greatest, from the Robson Den.

Glad to see a post from the Robson den! My hope for you is that things slow down a bit and you can catch your breath! Don't forget about a squeezing a little "me time" in somewhere in that crazy schedule! As Mom's our work is never done! As a working mom... your work is really never done!
