If you read my first posts back in February, you know that international adoption had been a dream since I was 10 years old. My plan all along had been to go to China, because the little girl across the street was from China and I had met many people throughout my life who had adopted from China. Looking back, God gave me lots of signs to adopt from Russia, but these 3 little angels showing up in my classroom right as I had decided this was the year was the final signal I needed. I never ever brought China up with any agencies. I just knew we were supposed to find her in Russia.
Reason #2 is K. K is a leader in our class. She is quite confident and mature, yet also caring and sensitive. It is her warm heart that has earned her the trust of her peers. K is reading. In fact, she came in sounding out some basic words from our 3 year old program. She loves to write and draw. Hearts are her specialty. Put envelopes and paper out and everyone gets a letter from K. She has a best friend from the 3 year old class. She and J are connected at the hip! K certainly knows how to give and receive friendship. K doesn't receive any form of intervention. She is way above average on all scales. K was adopted before she turned at 21 months.
K has an older sister who was a biological child to her mother. K's sister is 6 years older than K and they are very close friends. Her mother radiates love and compassion. She is one of those people you feel like you could tell anything to. She is very calm and patient. I love when she comes to volunteer in our classroom. I see K developing that same wonderful disposition. Mom has a wonderful support system. "Grandma" (a nanny/close older friend) brings K to school each morning and I know she is very involved. For most of they year I thought she was mom's mother.
